Each of our artwork contains a story that has been repeated over the course of millennia, that could be found in the details with the aims of celebrating their ancient beauty. The luxury in our designs signify the craftsmanship of the masters of the craft. We only work with a handful of craftsmen with whom we have deep and meaningful relationships.

THE FORGOTTEN ART, INTAGLIO

If you seek into the details of our designs you can find the exciting artworks called ‘intaglio’ uniquely engraved onto the delicate gemstones. Intaglio, an Italian word means ‘engrave’, is a jewellery technique that is used for engraving a design on gemstones, which dates back to antiquity.

In ancient times, intricately carved gems were a standard of wealth and were frequently engraved onto semi-precious stones like carnelian or jasper. Our contemporary interpretation of the technique includes the addition of higher-quality stones like aquamarine and emerald.

They served as imperial prestige insignia and, in some cases, as a form of heavenly protection. They were also used to press a wax seal on as a means of personal identification. These amazing miniature pieces of art were sought for, collected, and traded by kings, emperors, nobility, and wealthy merchants.

The beauty of intaglio jewellery lies in the details that can be carved into a gemstone. Every design has a backstory that has been hand sculpted, engraved, and completed by craftsmen in Istanbul, Turkey's Grand Bazaar. Our Intaglio Artist, Hadi Ihlas who has been mastering this craft over 15 years is the inspiring member of our team who has brought each design’s story to reality by hand carving them into delicate gemstones.
